Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTE:
- Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
- After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

2. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK
a. Remove the intake air surge tank.

3. DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY.
4. DISCONNECT NO. 2 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY.




5. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD
a. Disconnect the 6 fuel injector connectors.
b. Remove the 10 bolts, intake manifold and 2 gaskets.




6. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
a. Disconnect the sensor connector.
b. Remove the sensor.
c. Remove the gasket from the sensor.

INSTALLATION




1. INSTALL ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
a. Install a new gasket to the sensor.

b. Install the sensor.

Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)

c. Connect the sensor connector.




2. INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD
a. Set a new gasket on each cylinder head.

NOTE:
- Align the port holes of the gasket and cylinder head.
- Be careful of the installation direction.

b. Set the intake manifold on the cylinder heads.




c. Install and uniformly tighten the 10 bolts in several passes.

Torque: 26 N.m (265 kgf.cm, 19 ft.lbf)

d. Connect the 6 fuel injector connectors.

3. INSTALL INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK
a. Install the intake air surge tank.

4. CONNECT NO. 2 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY.
5. CONNECT NO. 1 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY.
6. ADD ENGINE COOLANT.
7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTE: Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

8. INSPECT FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAK.
