DTC 74-40 - Short in Speaker Circuit

DESCRIPTION

HINT: This circuit has a fail-safe function.
- When a short in the speaker circuit is detected, all sound outputs are stopped.

WIRING DIAGRAM

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT: After the inspection is completed, clear the DTCs.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Disconnect the S24 and S31 stereo component amplifier assembly connectors.
(b) Clear the DTC.
(c) Check if DTC 74-40 is output.
OK:
DTC 74-40 is not output.
NG -- REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Reconnect the S24 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
(b) Check if DTC 74-40 is output.
OK:
DTC 74-40 is not output.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - SPEAKER)
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - SPEAKER)

(a) Disconnect the S31 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
(b) Disconnect the S17, S18, S19 and S20 speaker connectors.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

(d) Reconnect the stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
(e) Reconnect the speaker connectors.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Disconnect the S19 front no. 2 speaker assembly LH connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

(c) Reconnect the front no. 2 speaker assembly LH connector.
NG -- REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY LH
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Disconnect the S20 front no. 2 speaker assembly RH connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

(c) Reconnect the front no. 2 speaker assembly RH connector.
NG -- REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY RH
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Disconnect the S17 rear speaker assembly LH connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

(c) Reconnect the rear speaker assembly LH connector.
NG -- REPLACE REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY LH
OK -- REPLACE REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY RH
7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - SPEAKER)

(a) Disconnect the S24 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
(b) Disconnect the S15, S16 and S21 speaker connectors.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

(a) Disconnect the S15 front no. 1 speaker assembly LH connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

(c) Reconnect the front no. 1 speaker assembly LH connector.
NG -- REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY LH
OK -- Continue to next step.

9. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Disconnect the S16 front no. 1 speaker assembly RH connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

(c) Reconnect the front no. 1 speaker assembly RH connector.
NG -- REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY RH
OK -- REPLACE NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY WITH BOX
