Applicability

Introduction

Some 2010 - 2011 4Runner vehicles may exhibit a condition where the driver's side seat back lumbar area makes a pop, squeak, or creak noise while driving. The condition may become more evident when driving on rough or uneven road surfaces or while moving around in the seat especially if the lumbar support is fully extended. Replace the front seat back spring assembly to address this condition.

Repair Procedure

1. Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

2. Remove the seat assembly from the vehicle. Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

3. Remove the seat back spring sub-assembly from the lower seat sub-assembly.

4. Remove the seat cover and cushion.

5. Install the seat cushion and cover on the new seat back spring sub-assembly.

6. Install the NEW seat back spring sub-assembly on to the lower seat sub-assembly.

7. Reinstall the seat assembly into the vehicle and confirm proper operation.
