Engine Lubrication: Testing and Inspection

2GR-FE LUBRICATION: LUBRICATION SYSTEM: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL

(a) Warm up the engine, stop it and wait 5 minutes. The oil level should be between the dipstick's low level mark and full level mark.

If the engine oil level is low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark.

NOTICE:
Do not add engine oil to above the full level mark.

2. CHECK ENGINE OIL

(a) Check the engine oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloring or thinning.

If the condition is visibly poor, replace the engine oil and engine oil filter.

3. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL RH (for 4WD)

4. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) Removal

5. DISCONNECT FRONT FENDER LINER RH (for 4WD)

6. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH (for 4WD) Removal

7. CHECK OIL PRESSURE

(a) Disconnect the wiring harness protector. (w/ oil cooler)





(b) Disconnect the oil pressure switch assembly connector.

(c) Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, remove the oil pressure switch. (w/o oil cooler)





(d) Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, remove the oil pressure switch. (w/ oil cooler)





(e) Install the oil pressure gauge w/ adapter.





(f) Warm up the engine.

(g) Check the oil pressure.

Standard oil pressure:





(h) If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump Testing and Inspection.

(i) Remove the oil pressure gauge.





(j) Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the oil pressure switch.

Adhesive:

Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent

(k) Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, install the oil pressure switch. (w/o oil cooler)





Torque : 15 Nm (153 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
Do not start the engine w/in 1 hour after installation.

(l) Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, install the oil pressure switch. (w/ oil cooler)





Torque : 15 Nm (153 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
Do not start the engine w/in 1 hour after installation.

(m) Connect the oil pressure switch assembly connector.

(n) Connect the wiring harness protector. (w/ oil cooler)





(o) Start the engine.

(p) Check for engine oil leaks from the oil pressure switch assembly.

8. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH (for 4WD) Installation

9. INSTALL FRONT FENDER LINER RH (for 4WD)

10. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) Installation

11. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL RH (for 4WD)

Torque : 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)
