DESCRIPTION
The park/neutral position switch turns on when the shift lever is moved to R, causing the back-up lights to illuminate.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. INSPECT FUSE (BK/UP LP)
(a) Remove the BK/UP LP fuse from the instrument panel junction block.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT REAR COMBINATION LIGHT
(a) Remove the rear combination light Removal.
(b) Apply battery voltage to the terminals of the connector, and check the light illumination condition.
OK:
NG -- REPLACE REAR COMBINATION LIGHT Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH
(a) Remove the park/neutral position switch Removal.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - BATTERY)
(a) Disconnect the C19 switch connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK-UP LIGHT - PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the C19 switch connector.
(b) for LH:
(1) Disconnect the S11 light connector.
(2) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
(c) for RH:
(1) Disconnect the S12 light connector.
(2) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT INSPECTION PROCEDURE SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
