DESCRIPTION

The main body ECU receives light control switch and dimmer switch information signals from the headlight dimmer switch, and illuminates the headlight high beam.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (HEADLIGHT)

(a) Operate the Techstream according to the steps on the display and select "Active Test".

Main Body

OK:

Headlight hi beam turns on/turns off.

NG -- INSPECT FUSE (HEAD LH, HEAD RH)

OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures

2. INSPECT FUSE (HEAD LH, HEAD RH)

(a) Remove the HEAD LH and HEAD RH fuses from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT RELAY (HEAD HI) - BATTERY)

(a) Remove the headlight relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DRL NO. 3 OR RR A/C RELAY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

(a) Remove the DRL No. 3 or RR A/C relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DRL NO. 4 RELAY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

(a) Remove the DRL No. 4 relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. INSPECT HEADLIGHT RELAY (HEAD HI)

(a) Remove the headlight relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE HEADLIGHT HI RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. INSPECT DRL NO. 3 OR RR A/C RELAY

(a) Remove the DRL No. 3 or RR A/C relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE DRL NO. 3 OR RR A/C RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.

8. INSPECT DRL NO. 4 RELAY

(a) Remove the DRL No. 4 relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE DRL NO. 4 RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.

9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT RELAY (HEAD HI) - DRL NO. 3 OR RR A/C RELAY AND DRL NO. 4 RELAY)

(a) Remove the headlight relay and DRL No. 3 or RR A/C relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT RELAY (HEAD HI) - DRL NO. 4 RELAY AND BODY GROUND)

(a) Remove the headlight relay and DRL No. 4 relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DRL NO. 3 OR RR A/C RELAY - DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT RESISTOR)

(a) Remove the DRL No. 3 or RR A/C relay from the engine room relay block, junction block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT RESISTOR - BODY GROUND)

(a) Remove the DRL No. 3 or RR A/C relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT RELAY (HEAD HI) - MAIN BODY ECU)

(a) Remove the headlight relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

*1: for U.S.A.

*2: for except U.S.A.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

14. CHECK MAIN BODY ECU

(a) Temporarily replace the main body ECU with a new or normally functioning one.

(b) Check that the headlight hi beam illuminates.

OK:

Headlight hi beam illuminates

NG -- REPLACE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT RESISTOR Removal

OK -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU
