Applicability
Introduction
Some 2010 model year Prius vehicles may exhibit a condition where coolant is leaking from the transaxle coolant drain plug. Use the repair procedure below to address this condition.
Production Change Information
This TSB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.
Warranty Information
APPLICABLE WARRANTY
^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Powertrain Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.
Repair Procedure
1. Remove the front spoiler cover.
2. Remove the engine under cover.
3. Inspect the inverter coolant drain plug located on the hybrid transaxle for signs of leakage.
4. Clean the drain plug area.
5. Using a torque wrench (10 mm) tighten the drain plug to the following specifications.
Torque: 47 N*m (479.3 kgf*cm, 34.7 ft*lbf)
NOTE
The drain plug does NOT need to be removed or replaced to perform this procedure.
6. Reinstall the engine under cover.
7. Reinstall the front spoiler cover.
8. Verify coolant level is at the "F" line in the inverter reserve tank. Top off as necessary.
