B2799 - Engine Immobiliser System Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is output when one of the following occurs: 1) the ECM detects errors in its own communications with the ID code box; 2) the ECM detects errors in the communication lines; or 3) the ECU communication ID between the ID code box and ECM is different and an engine start is attempted. Before troubleshooting for this DTC, make sure no certification ECU DTCs are present. If present, troubleshoot the certification ECU DTCs first.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Clear the DTC Engine Immobiliser System (w/ Smart Key System).

(b) Recheck for the DTC.

OK:

B2799 is not output.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ID CODE BOX - ECM)

OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK Electronic Circuit Inspection Procedure

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ID CODE BOX - ECM)





(a) Disconnect the E79 box connector.

(b) Disconnect the A9 ECM connector.

(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness connectors.

Standard Resistance:

for 2AR-FE
for 2GR-FE










NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. REREGISTER ECU CODE REGISTRATION

(a) Clear the DTC Engine Immobiliser System (w/ Smart Key System).

(b) Reregister the ID code box and ECM communication ID Engine Immobiliser System (W/ Smart Key System).

(c) Check that the engine starts.

OK:

Engine starts.

NG -- CHECK ID CODE BOX (OPERATION)

OK -- END (PROBLEM HAS BEEN CAUSED BY REGISTRATION FAILURE)

4. CHECK ID CODE BOX (OPERATION)

(a) Temporarily replace the ID code box with a new one Removal.

(b) Check that the engine starts.

OK:

Engine starts.

Result





C -- REPLACE ECM Removal

B -- REPLACE ECM Removal

A -- END (ID CODE BOX IS DEFECTIVE)
