BRAKE: BRAKE FLUID: REPLACEMENT

HINT
If any work is performed on the brake system or if air in the brake lines is suspected, bleed air from the brake system.

NOTICE:
* Apply the parking brake before bleeding the brakes.
* Add brake fluid to keep the level between the MIN and MAX lines of the reservoir while bleeding the brakes.
* If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.
* Bleed the brake line of the wheel farthest from the master cylinder first.
1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER BRACKET LH

(a) Detach the 6 claws and remove the bracket.





2. REPLACEMENT BRAKE FLUID

(a) Replacement brake fluid.

(1) Remove the brake master cylinder reservoir filler cap assembly.

(2) Add brake fluid to keep the level between the MIN and MAX lines of the reservoir while bleeding the brakes.

Brake Fluid:

SAE J1703 or FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3

(3) Remove the bleeder plug cap.

(4) Connect the vinyl tube to the bleeder plug.

(5) Depress the brake pedal several times, and then loosen the bleeder plug with the pedal depressed.*1

(6) When fluid stops coming out, tighten the bleeder plug, and then release the brake pedal.*2

(7) Repeat *1 and *2 until all the air in the fluid is completely bled out.

(8) Tighten the bleeder plug completely.

Torque : 8.3 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 73 in-lbf)

(9) Remove the vinyl tube and install the bleeder plug cap.

(10) repeat the above procedure for each wheel to bleed the brake line

(b) Inspect fluid level Service and Repair.

(c) Inspect for brake fluid leak.

3. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER BRACKET LH

(a) Attach the 6 claws to install the bracket.
