2AR-FE STARTING: SMART KEY SYSTEM: TERMINALS OF ECU
1. CHECK MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK)
(a) Disconnect the ID, IE, E15 and E16 junction block connectors.
(b) Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
(c) If the result is not as specified, there may be a malfunction on the wire harness side.
(d) Reconnect the ID, IE, E15 and E16 junction block connectors.
(e) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
HINT
*: Voltage is output for 0.3 seconds before the engine is started.
(f) If the result is not as specified, the ECU may have a malfunction.
(g) Using an oscilloscope, check waveform 1.
HINT
As the vehicle speed increases, the wavelength shortens.
(h) Using an oscilloscope, check waveform 2.
HINT
As the engine speed increases, the wavelength shortens.
2. CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU
(a) Disconnect the E84 ECU connector.
(b) Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
(c) If the result is not as specified, there may be a malfunction on the wire harness side.
3. CHECK ECM
(a) Disconnect the A9 and B30 ECM connectors.
(b) Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
(c) If the result is not as specified, there may be a malfunction on the wire harness side.
(d) Reconnect the A9 and B30 ECM connectors.
(e) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
(f) If the result is not as specified, the ECM may have a malfunction.
(g) Using an oscilloscope, check waveform 1.

As the engine speed increases, the wavelength shortens.
4. CHECK STEERING LOCK ECU
(a) Disconnect the E77 ECU connector.
(b) Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
* If the result is not as specified, there may be a malfunction on the wire harness side.
(c) Reconnect the E77 ECU connector.
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
* If the result is not as specified, the ECU may have a malfunction.
