AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE HUB: REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
1. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING LH (for Rear Coil Spring Type)

2. REMOVE REAR PNEUMATIC CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for Pneumatic Cylinder Type)

3. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY

Disassembly

4. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH

(a) Disconnect the rear speed sensor connector.





(b) Using a hexagon wrench, remove the bolt and the rear speed sensor.

5. REMOVE REAR HUB GREASE CAP LH

(a) Using a screwdriver and hammer, remove the axle hub grease cap.





NOTICE:
Do not damage the axle hub.

6. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH

(a) Remove the cotter pin and adjusting lock cap.





(b) Using a 39 mm socket wrench, remove the axle hub nut.

7. SEPARATE NO. 2 REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the cotter pin and nut.





(b) Using SST, separate the No. 2 rear suspension arm.

8. REMOVE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Put matchmarks on the No. 1 rear suspension arm and adjust cam.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts and nut.

(c) Using a plastic-faced hammer, tap out the front drive shaft from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly LH.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the drive shaft boot.

9. REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER LH

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and axle hub and bearing from the rear axle carrier.





(b) Remove the O-ring from rear axle hub.
