DESCRIPTION

ATF pressure switch No. 2 is installed in the shift solenoid valve ATF output passage. This switch is used to identify the malfunctioning part when a fail-safe operation is performed. If the shift solenoid valve malfunctions when the ATF pressure switch has a malfunction, a fail-safe operation will be performed. This fail-safe operation is different from the fail-safe operation performed when the solenoid valve malfunctions and the ATF pressure switch is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Perform the universal trip to clear permanent DTCs DTC Check / Clear.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0877 OR P0878)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Trouble Codes.

(e) Read the DTCs using the Techstream.

HINT
If a solenoid is stuck OFF, DTCs for several solenoids including the malfunctioning solenoid will be detected.

B -- CHECK TRANSMISSION WIRE
A -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK TRANSMISSION WIRE (SHORT TO GROUND)

(a) Remove the TCM.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





Result:





B -- REPLACE TCM Removal
A -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR ASSEMBLY (ATF PRESSURE SWITCH NO. 2)

(a) Remove the oil strainer assembly.

(b) Disconnect the transmission wire connector from the ATF temperature sensor assembly.





(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPLACE ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR ASSEMBLY Removal

OK -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE Removal

4. CHECK TRANSMISSION WIRE

(a) Remove the oil strainer assembly.

(b) Remove the TCM.





(c) Disconnect the connector from the ATF temperature sensor assembly.

(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. REPLACE ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK IF DTC OUTPUT RECURS

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Start the engine and turn the Techstream on.

(c) Enter the following menus: / ECT / DTC / Clear.

HINT
Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.

(d) Perform the monitor drive pattern Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes.

(e) Enter the following menus: / ECT / DTC.

(f) Read the DTCs using the Techstream.
