Applicability

Introduction

Some 2009 - 2013 model year Venza vehicles equipped with 2GR-FE engines may exhibit difficulty restarting in sub-freezing temperatures (approximately -4° F [-20° C] and lower).

This condition typically occurs in the following situations:

^ Engine restart after the initial start using the Remote Engine Starting [RES] system.

^ Engine restart after short trips.

A new Engine Room Junction Block Assembly is available to address this condition.

Repair Procedure

1. Confirm the difficult to restart condition.

Park the vehicle indoors allow vehicle to reach ambient indoor temperature (approximately 15 minutes) and reconfirm the difficult to restart condition.

Did the engine start?

^ YES - Replace the Engine Room Junction Block Assembly. Continue to step 2.

^ NO - This bulletin does NOT apply. Refer to the Repair Manual for further diagnosis.

2. Replace the Engine Room Junction Block Assembly.

3. Verify normal engine operation after Junction Block replacement.
