2GR-FE ENGINE CONTROL: CAMSHAFT OIL CONTROL VALVE: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Start the engine.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Turn the A/C switch on.

(e) Inspect the oil control valve assembly (for intake camshaft).

(1) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1).

(2) Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for intake camshaft) using the Techstream.

Standard Condition:





If the operation is not as specified, check the oil control valve assembly, wire harness and ECM.

(3) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 2).

(4) Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for intake camshaft) using the Techstream.

Standard Condition:





If the operation is not as specified, check the oil control valve assembly, wire harness and ECM.

(f) Inspect the oil control valve assembly (for exhaust camshaft).

(1) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 1).

(2) Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for exhaust camshaft) using the Techstream.

Standard Condition:





If the operation is not as specified, check the oil control valve assembly, wire harness and ECM.

(3) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 2).

(4) Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for exhaust camshaft) using the Techstream.

Standard Condition:





If the operation is not as specified, check the oil control valve assembly, wire harness and ECM.
