U341E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: DIFFERENTIAL CASE: INSPECTION

1. INSPECT DIFFERENTIAL SIDE GEAR BACKLASH

(a) Measure the differential side gear backlash while holding 1 pinion gear toward the case.





Standard backlash:

0.05 to 0.20 mm (0.00196 to 0.00787 in.)

If the backlash is not within the specified range, install the correct thrust washers to the side gear.

(b) Referring to the table below, select thrust washers which will adjust the backlash to within the specified range for both sides.
