SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: REAR AIRBAG SENSOR: REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.

NOTICE:
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Service Precautions.

2. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY Removal

3. REMOVE NO. 1 DECK BOARD Removal

4. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD Removal

5. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX Removal

6. REMOVE DECK FLOOR BOX RH Removal

7. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

8. REMOVE TONNEAU COVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Tonneau Cover) Removal

9. REMOVE FRONT DECK FLOOR BOX Removal

10. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 FLOOR BOARD Removal

11. REMOVE BACK DOOR SCUFF PLATE Removal

12. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE Removal

13. DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP

HINT
Disconnect the rear door opening trim weatherstrip to the extent that allows the removal of the deck trim side panel assembly.

14. REMOVE LUGGAGE HOLD BELT STRIKER ASSEMBLY Removal

15. REMOVE FRONT DECK SIDE TRIM COVER Removal

16. DISCONNECT REAR SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY Removal

17. REMOVE NO. 2 ROOM LIGHT ASSEMBLY Removal

18. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal

19. REMOVE SIDE NO. 2 AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Check that the power switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Disconnect the connector from the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(1) Push down the white housing lock and slide the yellow CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

(2) Push down the white housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

NOTICE:
Do not push down the part (A) shown in the illustration when disconnecting.

(d) Remove the bolt and side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly from the vehicle body.

NOTICE:
Loosen the bolt while holding the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly because the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly pin (stopper) is easily damaged.

(e) After disconnecting the connector, check that the position of the white housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.
