Installation





SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: SPIRAL CABLE: INSTALLATION

1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

(a) Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.

2. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Set the turn signal switch in neutral position.

NOTICE:
Make sure of the neutral position since the pin of the turn signal switch may be snapped.

(b) Install the spiral cable sub-assembly with the 4 screws.

NOTICE:
When replacing the spiral cable sub-assembly with a new one, remove the lock pin before installing the handle.

(c) Connect the airbag connector and connector.

(d) Install the steering column cover with the 3 screws.

3. CENTER SPIRAL CABLE

(a) Check that the ignition switch is OFF.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative battery terminal.

NOTICE:
Do not start the operation for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.

(c) Turn the cable counterclockwise by hand until it becomes harder to turn.





(d) Turn the cable clockwise about 2.5 turns to align the marks.





HINT
The cable will rotate about 2.5 turns both left and right from the center.

4. INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER

(a) Engage the claw, then install the upper steering column cover.

5. INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER

(a) Engage the 2 claws.

(b) Install the lower steering column cover with the 2 screws.

6. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Installation

7. INSTALL STEERING PAD Installation

8. INSTALL NO.2 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER Installation

9. INSTALL NO.3 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER Installation

10. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

Torque : 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf)

11. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY

12. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
