Removal

1. Remove transmission. Manual Transmission/Transaxle

Flywheel Tool:

2. Hold flywheel in place using locking tool VW 558 or equivalent.
3. Loosen bolts evenly and remove flywheel.
4. Remove clutch disc.

Clutch Snap Ring:

5. Use a screwdriver to free the ends of snap ring "A" from bores (arrows) and remove.

CAUTION: The retaining ring is a spring that will be released with force. Hold firmly when prying loose to avoid injury.

6. Remove release plate "B".

Pressure Plate Special Tool:

7. Lock pressure plate using tool VW 558 or equivalent, then remove the pressure plate and the intermediate plate.
