Component Description




Control unit, removing

- remove close out cover from beneath instrument panel on passenger side
- unplug electrical connector
- remove attaching screws (arrows)



Speedometer sender, removing

- remove instrument cluster
- remove attaching screws and pull out sensor



Column switches, removing

- remove steering wheel
- unplug electrical connectors
- remove attaching screws (arrows)



Vacuum vent valves, removing

- remove close out cover under instrument panel on driver's side
- remove electrical connector and vacuum hose
- using tool 2041, pull vent valve out of bushing

Note

Vent valve cannot be reused because of damage to threads



Vacuum vent valves, installing

- start valve into bushing by hand
- push valve through bushing to stop with 10 mm socket
- pull pedal back fully to stop
^ switch automatically adjusts



Vacuum servo, removing

- remove vacuum hose
- remove linkage attached to throttle
- remove attaching nut (arrow)



Vacuum servo, adjusting (gas engine)

- run engine until warm (oil temp. minimum 80~C [176~F])
- throttle in idle position
- adjust linking with nut (1) until there is clearance between bushing and stop plate
^ 0.1 mm - 0.3 mm



Vacuum servo, adjusting (diesel motor)

- run engine until warm (oil temp. minimum 60~C [140~F])
- throttle in idle position
- loosen nut on ball stud
- adjust linkage so there is clearance between bushing and stop plate
^ 0.1 mm - 0.3 mm
