Deceleration Valve: Testing and Inspection


Electrically Controlled Deceleration Valve

1. Switch ignition On and disconnect ATF pressure switch electrical lead from deceleration valve.
2. Ground ATF pressure switch electrical lead. An audible click should be heard when grounding the ATF electrical lead.
3. If no click is heard, replace deceleration valve or ATF pressure switch.

Vacuum Controlled Deceleration Valve

1. Disconnect hose between deceleration valve and intake air sensor at intake air sensor.
2. Start engine and increase engine speed to 3000 RPM for a few seconds, then let throttle valve snap closed and check for vacuum at disconnected hose.
3. If no vacuum is present, replace deceleration valve.
