Automatic Transaxle Service - Checking and Filling Final Drive Lubricant

Because the oil is not contaminated by combustion byproducts, the final drive lubricant does not need to be routinely changed. Checking the lubricant level should only be necessary if hypoid oil leaks are discovered.




Oil filler plug location on automatic transaxle final drive, behind right-side drive flange. Remove with 17 mm hex wrench.


Check the lubricant level with the car level.
Remove the oil filler plug, shown, using a 17 mm hex wrench.
The level is correct when the fluid just reaches the edge of the filler hole.
Torque the oil filler plug to 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
