Ignition Lock: Service and Repair

1. On Cabriolet models W/airbag, disable airbag system, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ARMING & DISARMING.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove ignition lock, refer to IGNITION LOCK.
4. Using 1/8 inch drill bit, drill hole in lock housing approximately 1/8 inch deep as shown in Fig. 2. Dimension A = 0.47 inch, dimension B = .39 inch.
5. On Fox models, insert ignition key into cylinder.
6. On all models, using a suitable drift punch, remove lock cylinder by pressing in check spring using hole previously drilled.
7. Install lock cylinder by pushing cylinder into lock housing until check spring engages. On some models it may be necessary to insert and gently turn ignition key while installing lock cylinder.
