Ignition Control Module: Testing and Inspection

1. Ensure ignition coil is satisfactory.
2. Disconnect electrical connector at Hall control unit.
3. Turn ignition on, then set multimeter tool No. US 1119 or equivalent, to 20 DCV range.
4. Connect multimeter between terminals 2 and 4 of connector using adapter kit No. VW 1594 or equivalent. Terminal designations are 1 through 7, left to right.
5. Turn ignition switch to On position, meter must display approximately 12 volts.
6. Turn ignition switch to Off position, reconnect electrical connector at Hall control unit, then disconnect electrical connector from Digifant control unit.
7. Connect multimeter between negative and positive terminals of ignition coil, then turn ignition switch to On position.
8. Meter must display 2 volts minimum, then drop to zero volts after 1--2 seconds. If not, replace Hall control unit, inspect coil for leakage and replace if necessary.
9. Jump terminal 25 of Digifant control unit electrical connector to ground. Meter should display 2 volts minimum briefly.
