Starter Motor: Service and Repair




Starter, Removing/Installing

Starter application chart:
- 1.8 ltr.-2.O ltr. Gas
- 2.8 ltr. Gas
- Turbo Diesel engine (Canada only)

Removing:

- Disconnect ground cable at battery.





- Support engine/gearbox assembly with 1O-222A and legs 1O-222A/1.





- Cut through both cable ties -arrows- securing wiring from Generator (GEN) and from ignition switch terminal 50.
- After installation resecure wiring with two cable ties.





- Disconnect white and black connectors -arrows- and pull off.





- Disconnect wire from generator (GEN) B+ (6 mm2) (53 in. lb2) and wire from battery positive (16 mm2) (142 in. lb2) from starter terminal 30 -arrow-.
- When installing, tighten nut to 13 Nm (115 in.lb).





- Tighten securing bolt -arrow- to 60 Nm (44 ft lb).





- Tighten securing bolt -arrow- to 60 Nm (44 ft lb).
