Changes In Production, Jan. 1993

Some of the information contained here is referenced as "Up to Jan. 1993" and "From Jan. 1993". This is because the Motronic engine management system on the VR-6 engine for the Passat and Corrado have had some revisions during the 1993 model year production.

Changes as of January, 1993 production

Secondary Air Injection System

- Electrically driven air pump

- Cylinder head with air passages

- Secondary air injection inlet valve

- Vacuum operated shut-off valve

Distributorless ignition system

- Three "Double-ended" ignition coils.

- Power output stage.

- Hall sensor is relocated to the camshaft drive sprocket


New Motronic ECM

- Controls these new systems.

Identifying

Production Date

- Inside the left door jam is a label that contains the month and year of production.
