Alternator: Service and Repair

Editor Note: In order to gain sufficient clearance to remove the alternator, remove the air cleaner assembly, loosen motor mounts and raise engine with appropriate lifting tool.

1. Mounting bracket
2. Spring tensioner

3. Hex nuts M8 Tightening torque:
30Nm (22 ft lb)

4. Generator (GEN)

5. Voltage regulator (VR)
When replacing, remove/install items 8, 7, 6

6. Phillips-head screws M4x25
7. Cover
8. Hex bolts M3x18

9. Poly-ribbed belt
Removal and installation Service and Repair

10. Hex bolts M8x85 Tightening torque:
25Nm (18 ft lb)

11. Tensioner (idler) pulley
