Automatic Transmission
Use test system V.A.G 1466 for troubleshooting!Test Condition:
^ Vacuum system for cruise control system OK!
^ Fuse no. 51, 10A, above relay panel OK!
^ Transmission control module (TCM) J217 OK!
Preparation for Troubleshooting:
- Disconnect single connector (yellow) coming from S51, above relay panel (see wiring diagram).
- Remove dual horn relay J4 (production control number 53) from relay location 11.
- Use auxiliary wire from measuring kit VW 1594 to connect black wire of separated connection, above relay panel; with contact 1 of location 11 (terminal 15).
- Remove double connector and 8-pin connectors from cruise control, control module J 213, behind center console.
- Connect test adapter V.A.G 1466/2 to wiring harness.
- Connect V.A.G 1466 to test adapter.
- Connect remaining test contact with auxiliary wire to T2/1 connector (wire 0.5 BL/BK).
- Switch on ignition.
NOTE: Contact T2/2 of double connector at cruise control, control module J 213 is also used. Connection from T2/2 (wire 0.5 BR/BK) to ground must be checked.

Troubleshooting Procedure:
- Perform test steps according to table.
- If specified value/test result is obtained, proceed with next step (test result OK).
- If specified value/test result is not obtained, use table for troubleshooting and repair.
- Use applicable wiring diagram for wire testing.
- Disconnect test leads after each step.
NOTE: If malfunction has not been eliminated after performing steps 1 to 8, replace cruise control, control module J213.
- After repairing malfunction, perform functional test of cruise control system.
