Axle Beam Mounting Cap Nut

If the threads of the cap nut in the body side member are damaged, they must be re-tapped or drilled out and re-tapped as follows:

- Remove rear axle beam.
- Drill through damaged cap nut with 10.2 mm (13/32 inch) diameter drill.

WARNING: Wear protective goggles when drilling.

CAUTION: Maintain proper alignment and DO NOT tilt drill.

- Cut new M12 x 1.5 thread in cap nut.
- Install rear axle beam using new fasteners.

- Bolts, part No. N 010 137.4 (M12 x 1.5 x 35 mm), or equivalent
- Washers, part No. N 011 531.7, or equivalent
- Tighten to: 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.)
