Ignition Lock Cable: Service and Repair







NOTE:
^ During service procedures, refer to the illustration above and the information below.
^ After installing adjust locking cable. Adjustments

1 Frame
2 Locking cable
- Must not be kinked
- Adjusting. Adjustments
- Checking ignition key lock. Testing and Inspection
3 Selector lever
- Removing and installing refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
- Disassembling and assembling refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
4 Clip
- To secure locking cable
- Always replace
5 Ignition/starter switch
6 Mounting
- For locking cable
- Secure to heater hose
7 Mounting
- Secure to base plate and pull locking cable through mounting eye

Removal
- Remove selector lever grip, cover, cover strips and selector lever console.
- Remove locking cable from frame and remove from locking lever ball head.
- Remove ignition/starter switch trim. Refer to Starting and charging.
- Press locking cable clip out of ignition/starter switch support and remove locking cable from ball head.
- Remove footwell vent console.
- Remove locking cable.

Installation
- Installation is performed in the reverse order.

NOTES:
^ Ensure proper routing of locking cable when installing.
^ Adjust locking cable after installing. Adjustments
