Connecting VAS 5051 Scan Tool

VAS 5051 Vehicle Diagnostic Testing and Information System

All functions previously performed with the VAG1551 or VAG1552 can also be performed using the new VAS5O51 tester via operating mode: "Vehicle Self Diagnosis" - On Board Diagnostic (OBD).

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items needed







- VAS 5051 tester
- VAS 5051/1 or VAS 5051/3 adapter cable

Test prerequisites
- All fuses OK according to wiring diagram
- Battery (B+) voltage: minimum 11.5 V

VAS 5051, connecting







- Connect VAS5051/1 or VAS5O51/3 diagnostic cable to Data Link Connector (DLC)
- Switch on ignition.

Select operating mode:
- Press "Vehicle Self-Diagnosis" selection on display to initiate On Board Diagnostic (OBD) function.

Select vehicle system:
- Select the vehicle system to be tested on display (touch screen).

Display will indicate the control module identification and the coding.

Select diagnostic function:
Display shows all relevant diagnostic functions.
- Select the desired function on display.


NOTE:
- The display fields in functions 04 - basic setting and 08 - Read Measuring Value Block are listed from top to bottom.
- The following test sequences are described for the VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST).
