Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM), (Function 03)
Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM), Initiating
The output DTM activates the following components in the stated sequence:
1 - EVAP canister purge regulator valve -N80- (Tank breathing valve)
2 - Secondary Air Injection(AIR) pump relay -J299-
3 - Leak Detection pump (LDP) -V144-
4 - Injector No.1 Cyl. -N30-
5 - Injector No.3 Cyl. -N32-
6 - Injector No.4 Cyl. -N33-
7 - Injector No.2 Cyl. -N31-
NOTE: Activation of components may vary or may occur in another sequence, depending on the current control module version.
Special tools and equipment
- VAG 1551 scan tool or vehicle system tester VAG 1552 with cable VAG 1551/3B
- Test box VAG 1598/31
- Hand multimeter VAG 1526 or multimeter VAG 1715
- VAG 1527B Voltage tester
- Adapter set VAG 1594
- Wiring diagram
Test conditions
- Main fuses must be OK
- All fuses must be OK
- Engine is stationary and ignition switched on.
NOTE:
- The output DTM can only be performed if the engine is stationary and ignition switched on.
- The output DTM will be aborted if the engine is started or a rotational impulse is recognized.
- During the output DTM the individual final controls will be activated for approx. 60 seconds or until advancing to the next final control by pressing the -> button.
- The output DTM can be aborted by pressing the -C- button so that it need not be continued with the -> button to the end. This is especially important because the injectors can be actuated with the -> button according to the firing order and inject fuel.
- The electric fuel pump will run during the complete output DTM.
- The final controls are checked acoustically or by touching.
- The output DTM will be aborted after 60 seconds, if -> button is not pressed again.
- Run engine briefly first if there is a requirement to repeat output DTM.
Work sequence
- Connect scan tools VAG 1551 or 1552. Switch ignition on and select engine control module with "Address word" 01. (Connecting scan tool and selecting engine control module.) [1][2][3]Connecting VAG 1551 Scan Tool
