Airbag Unit, Replacing After An Accident

Accident where airbag deployed

- After replacing airbag units or airbag control module, labels (only tear-off strips) of new components must be attached to "registration card 2 for airbag systems" . "Send registration card 2 for airbag systems" relevant dealer or to Volkswagen of America for registration.

- The registration card 000 010 227 C must be ordered separately.

Always replace the following components after an accident when airbag has deployed:

- All deployed airbag units with control modules and sensors.

- Support for passenger module where passenger airbag deployed.

- Return ring with slip ring, if drivers side airbag deployed.

- All seatbelts with belt tensioners that have been triggered.

- Seat covers and clips if side airbag is deployed

- If necessary (visual check) also replace the following: all damaged components.

- Always replace the following components after an accident when side curtain airbag has deployed:

- All damaged pillars and trims.

- Door seal

- Headliner

- Grabhandle

- Connecting strip (for headliner)

- Rear reading light

Note:

- The Headliner, grab handle, reading light and connecting strip for headliner can be used up to 6 times.
- Accident where airbag did not deploy

- If airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) -K75- does not indicate a DTC, airbag components do not need to be replaced. Check seatbelts separately.

- After replacing the airbag units or the airbag control module, attach stickers (only tear-off strips) to the registration card and return the card to relevant dealer or to importer for registration.

- The registration card 000 010 227 C must be ordered separately
