Condenser Fan: Testing and Inspection



Coolant fan, checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required






- Connector test set V.A.G 1594C
- Wiring diagram

Test conditions






- Main fuses must be OK.
- Coolant Fan Control (FC) Thermal Switch F18 OK

Test sequence

- Disconnect 3-pin connector from coolant fan control (FC) thermal switch F18.






- Bridge terminal - 1 - and terminal - 2 - of the connector using adapter wires from connector test set V.A.G 1594C . Stage 1 of Coolant Fan V7 and Right Coolant Fan V35 must start running.

- Switch ignition on.

- Bridge terminal - 2 - and terminal - 3 - of connector using adapter wires from connector test set V.A.G 1594C . The Coolant Fan V7 and Right Coolant Fan V35 must start running.

If 1st or 2nd speeds of fans do not run:

- Determine and eliminate open circuit according to electrical schematics.

If no fault is detected in the wiring:

- Replace Coolant Fan V7 or Right Coolant Fan V35.
