System Specifications

Tightening torques

Tightening torque:

Cylinder Head Bolts
Always replace bolts





First pass Tighten all bolts hand tight
Second pass Pretighten all bolts to 40 Nm
Third pass Tighten all bolts 1/4 turn (90°)
Final pass Tighten all bolts another 1/4 turn (90°)

Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolts
First pass: Tighten Caps 2 & 4 alternately & diagonally 20 Nm
Second pass: Coat Cap 1 contact surfaces with AMV 174 004 01
Final pass: Install Caps 3, 1 & 5 & tighten 20 Nm

Crankshaft Main Bearing Cap Bolts 65 Nm plus 90° (1/4 turn)
Always replace

Connecting rod bearing cap nuts 30 Nm plus 1/4 turn (90°)
Connecting rod bearing cap bolts 30 Nm plus 1/4 turn (90°)

Crankshaft toothed belt sprocket bolt 90 Nm plus 1/4 turn (90°)

Belt pulley/vibration damper bolt 25 Nm

Drive Plate Bolts
Install new bolts

First pass 30 Nm
Final pass 60 Nm plus 90° (1/4 turn) (turning further can be done in several stages)

Oil pump to block bolts 15 Nm

Chain sprocket to oil pump bolt 20 Nm

Coolant pump mounting bolts 15 Nm
