Transponder (key)
Replacement or servicing of the transponder integrated with the vehicle keys is not possible. In the event of transponder malfunction, the complete key assembly requires replacement.

NOTE:
- If an ignition key is replaced or another ignition key is required, the new ignition key must always be adapted to the immobilizer.
- If radio-frequency unit (transmitter for radio operated central locking) of ignition key is replaced, it must be adapted to the comfort system.

Anti-theft immobilizer, adapting ignition key
- Connect Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051/5052
- Select operating mode "Guided Fault Finding"
- Enter information as prompted and press ">" to confirm.

After the DTC memory of all control modules has been checked:
- Use "Go to" button to select "Function / Component Selection"
- Select "Body"
- Select "Electrical system int/ext"
- Select "01 - Self-diagnosis"
- Select "Immobilizer"
- Select "Functions"
- Select "Ignition key adaptation"
- Press ">" to confirm.
- Follow tester prompts

Comfort system, adapting ignition key
- Connect Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051/5052
- Select operating mode "Guided Fault Finding"
- Enter information as prompted and press ">" to confirm.

After the DTC memory of all control modules has been checked:

- Select "Body"
- Select "Repair work int/ext"
- Select "01 - Self-diagnosis"
- Select "46 - Central module comfort system"
- Select "Functions"
- Select "Adaptation"
- Press ">" to confirm.
- Select "Ignition key adaptation"
- Follow tester prompts
