Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motors (V48)/(V49)

• If the motors are removed and installed, check the headlamp position and adjust it if necessary.

• The illustrations show replacing on a left headlamp.


• Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

• Remove the key.

Removal

- Remove the headlamp. Refer to=> [ Headlamps ] Headlamps.

- Remove the cap - 1 - in - direction of arrow -.






• To obtain access to the second left headlamp beam adjustment motor (V48) screw, it is necessary to break open the opening on the back of the headlamp housing. This assembly opening must be sealed off with plugs (ordered separately) after completing the work.

- Place a socket on plastic hex head - 1 - on the back of the headlamp housing.






- Press and turn plastic hex head out of headlamp housing to break out assembly opening.

• The locking piece broken out must not remain in headlamp. Remove it again from the headlamp housing.

- Rotate HID Lamp Igniter Unit (N195) - 1 - toward igniter unit marking "OPEN" to stop.

• Connector - 1 - is automatically release when HID lamp igniter unit is turned toward "OPEN" to stop.






- Remove HID Lamp Igniter Unit straight back from headlamp.






- Remove the screws - arrows - from the left headlamp beam adjustment motor.






- Slightly lift the reflector for the low beam headlamp and move the left headlamp beam adjustment motor so that it is possible to remove the ball head - 1 - - in direction of arrow - from its mount - 2 -.






- Lower the reflector for the low beam headlamp again, lift the left headlamp beam adjustment motor - 1 - and turn it in - direction of arrow -.






- Remove the left headlamp beam adjustment motor from the headlamp. Pay attention to the connected wires.

- Disconnect the connector - 2 - and remove the left headlamp beam adjustment motor - 1 -.






Installation

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Connect the connector - 2 - to the left headlamp beam adjustment motor - 1 -.






- Install the left headlamp beam adjustment motor (V48) - 1 - into the headlamp as illustrated.






- Slightly lift the reflector for the low beam headlamp and move the ball head - 2 - on the left headlamp beam adjustment motor so that it is possible to insert it into it mount - 3 - in - direction of arrow -.

- Install both screws in the left headlamp beam adjustment motor.


When installing cap, ensure proper seating. It is destroyed by entry of water into headlamp.

- Tighten the threaded connections to the tightening specification. Refer to => [ HID Headlamps Overview, through MY 09 ] HID Headlamps Overview, through MY 09.

- Install the HID lamp igniter unit (N195) and the cap.

- Seal broken out assembly opening - 1 - with a plug ordered separately.






- Check headlamp for functions.

- Check and adjust the headlamp adjustment.
