Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motors (V48)/(V49), Automotive Lighting

• If the motors are removed and installed, check the headlamp position and adjust it if necessary.

• The illustrations show replacing on a left headlamp. Contrary to the following illustrations, there are two openings with breaking points that must be opened to gain access to the screws.


• Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

• Remove the key.

Removal

- Remove the headlamp. Refer to=> [ Headlamps ] Headlamps.

- Remove the cap - 1 - in - direction of arrow -.






• To obtain access to the second right headlamp beam adjustment motor (V49) screw, it is necessary to break open the opening - arrow - on the back of the headlamp housing. This assembly opening must be sealed off with plugs (ordered separately) after completing the work.

- Attach the socket wrench to the plastic head on the back of the headlamp housing.






- Press and turn plastic hex head out of headlamp housing to break out assembly opening.

• The locking piece broken out must not remain in headlamp. Remove it again from the headlamp housing.

- Remove the screws - 2 - and - 3 - from the right headlamp beam adjustment motor - 1 -.






- Lift the headlamp reflector for the low beam - 2 - slightly and turn the right headlamp beam adjustment motor - 1 - all the way in - direction of arrow -.






- Slightly lift the reflector for the low beam headlamp and turn the ball head on the right headlamp beam adjustment motor - 1 - that it is possible to pull it in - direction of arrow - out of the ball head mount - 2 -.






- Remove the right headlamp beam adjustment motor from the headlamp.

- Disconnect the connector - 1 -.






- Remove the right headlamp beam adjustment motor - 2 -.

Installation

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Connect the connector - 1 - to the right headlamp beam adjustment motor - 2 -.






- Insert the right headlamp beam adjustment motor - 1 - into the headlamp as illustrated.






- Slightly lift the reflector for the low beam headlamp and turn the ball head on the right headlamp beam adjustment motor - 2 - so that it is possible to insert it - direction of arrow - into the ball head mount - 3 -.

- Lift the low beam headlamp reflector slightly and turn the right headlamp beam adjustment motor - 1 - all the way in - direction of arrow -.






- Install the screws in the right headlamp beam adjustment motor and then install the cap.


When installing the cover cap, make sure the cap is properly seated. It is destroyed by entry of water into headlamp.

- Seal broken out assembly opening - 1 - with a plug ordered separately.





- Check headlamp for functions.

- Check and adjust the headlamp adjustment.
