Generator

Application and Safety Notes


If assembly work is performed on generator, note the following:

• Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.

• Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment ] Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment or => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Batteries In Luggage Compartment ] Disconnecting and Connecting Batteries In Luggage Compartment.

Follow the procedure in the Repair Information when disconnecting and connecting the battery. DTC Recognition and Display

For fault-finding, use the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A) , and the function "Guided fault finding" Refer to => [ Generator, Checking ] Testing and Inspection.

• Check the generator.

Description of Work

• Securing B+ wire to generator, refer to => [ B+ Cable Mount on Generator ] Procedures.

• Generator voltage regulator, refer to => [ Voltage Regulator, Bosch ] Voltage Regulator, Bosch or => [ Voltage Regulator, Valeo ] Voltage Regulator, Valeo.

• Generator, 2.0L TSI engine, refer to => [ Generator ] Generator.
