Ignition Components Overview

• The engine speed (RPM) sensor (G28) - item 14 -=> [ ] Engine Overview is on the cylinder block.





1 Knock Sensor (KS) (G61)

• To remove, the coolant thermostat housing must be removed. Refer to => [ Coolant Thermostat Housing with Thermostat ] Coolant Thermostat Housing with Thermostat.

• Contacts are gold plated.

2 Knock Sensor (KS) 2 (G66)

• To remove, the oil filter bracket must be removed. Refer to => [ Oil Filter Bracket ] Oil Filter Bracket.

• Contacts are gold plated.

3 Ignition Coil with Power Output Stage ((N70, N127, N291, N292))

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Ignition Coils with Power Output Stages ] Service and Repair.

4 Spark Plug

• 25 Nm

• If the spark plug is replaced, grease the ignition coil with power output stage. Refer to => [ Installing ] Service and Repair.

• Type and electrode gap, refer to => [ Technical Data ] Application and ID.

• Remove and install using spark plug removal tool (3122 B).

5 Bolt

• 20 Nm

• Tightening specification affects the function of the KS.

6 Bolt

• 10 Nm

7 Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor (G40)

• Contacts are gold plated.
