Throttle Valve Control Module (J338), Cleaning

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Acetone

Observe the rules for cleanliness. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Fuel Supply.

The throttle valve connections must not be damaged when cleaning.

- Remove the throttle valve control module. Refer to => Removal and Replacement.

- Open the throttle valve by hand and hold it in the open position with a suitable object - arrow -.






Acetone is easily inflammable. Observe accident prevention measures and safety information when working with easily inflammable fluids. Do not used compressed air when cleaning the throttle valve. Wear protective goggles and protective clothing to prevent injuries and contact with skin.

- Clean the throttle valve connections, especially in the area of the closed throttle valve, with standard acetone and a brush.





- Wipe the throttle valve connections with a lint-free cloth.

- Allow the acetone to dry completely and reinstall the cleaned throttle valve control module.

- Adapt a new Engine Control Module (ECM) to the throttle valve control module. Refer to "Guided functions" in the vehicle diagnostic tester.
