LATCH System, USA

Checking the LATCH system (lower anchors and tethers for children)

Service personnel must check LATCH anchors for damage and deformation.

Welded LATCH anchors cannot be repaired or replaced.

The fuel tank of the vehicle is located directly behind the area where the lower LATCH anchors are located. To avoid damaging the fuel tank thus preventing fire caused by fuel leak, welding and boring and protruding screws or other mounts are not allowed in this area.

If the upper and lower LATCH hooks are used, a maximum child weight of 18 kg is allowed. Upper tether must not be used alone but only together with seat belt system or lower anchors.
