Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

Removing






- Disconnect the negative battery cable.

- Remove the knock sensor cover (4).

- Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the knock sensor (2).

- Remove the knock sensor bolt (3) and sensor (2) from the engine.

Installing







Tighten the knock sensor to the correct tightening specification. Over or under tightening effects the knock sensor performance, possibly causing improper spark control and damage to the sensor.

- Install the knock sensor (2) to the engine.

- Install the knock sensor bolt (3). Tighten the bolt to 20 Nm (15 ft lbs).

- Connect the wiring harness electrical connector (1) to the knock sensor (2).

- Install the knock sensor cover (4).

- Connect the negative battery cable.
