Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

Removing






- Disconnect the negative battery.

- Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] Upper Intake Manifold.

- Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector from the knock sensor pigtail harness connector.

- Remove the knock sensor bolt and sensor - arrow -.

Installing







Tighten the knock sensor to the correct specification. Over or under tightening effects the knock sensor performance, possibly causing improper spark control and damage to the sensor.

- Install the knock sensor and bolt. Tighten the bolt to 20 Nm (15 ft lbs).

- Connect the wiring harness electrical connector to the knock sensor pigtail harness connector.

- Route the knock sensor wire in the proper location.

- Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] Upper Intake Manifold.

- Connect the negative battery cable.
