Brake Caliper
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1576)
• Brake Pedal Actuator (V.A.G 1869/2)
Procedure applies only for replacing or when performing subsequent work on a brake caliper.
Removing
- Remove the wheel.
- Connect the bleeder hose from the bleeder bottle to the bleeder valve on the brake caliper and then open the valve.
- Install the (V.A.G 1869/2).
- Close the bleeder valve and remove the bleeder bottle and hose.
- Remove the brake line from the brake caliper.
- Remove the bracket - item 7 -=> [ Bracket ] 17 Inch Caliper (1LE) from the wheel bearing housing.
- Remove the brake pads. Refer to => [ Brake Pads ] Brake Pads.
- Remove the brake caliper from the wheel bearing housing.
Installing
- Install the brake caliper to the wheel bearing housing.
- Install the brake pads.Refer to => [ Brake Pads ] Brake Pads.
- Install the brake line to the brake caliper.
- Install the bracket - item 7 -=> [ Bracket ] 17 Inch Caliper (1LE) to the wheel bearing housing.
- Remove the (V.A.G 1869/2).
- Bleed the brake system. Refer to => [ Brake System Bleeding ] Service and Repair.
- Install the wheel.
• Before moving the vehicle, firmly press the brake pedal several times to properly seat the brake pads in their normal operating position.
• Check the brake fluid level.
