Steering Lock Housing

Always follow the instructions in the Repair Information exactly when disconnecting and connecting the battery. Refer to battery in engine compartment => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair or battery in luggage compartment => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.

Steering lock may be destroyed.

If steering lock is operated without lock cylinder, it locks and must be replaced.

Steering lock must not be operated without lock cylinder.

• The steering column switch base carrier must be removed first in order to remove the steering lock housing.

Removing

- Disconnect the battery. Refer to battery in engine compartment => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair or battery in luggage compartment => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.

- Remove the steering column switch base carrier:

• Vehicles with KESSY, refer to => [ Steering Column Switch Base Carrier, Valeo ] Steering Column Switch Base Carrier, Valeo or => [ Steering Column Switch Base Carrier, Kostal ] Steering Column Switch Base Carrier, Kostal.

• Vehicle with an ignition switch (D) and a lock cylinder, refer to => [ Steering Column Switch Base Carrier, Valeo ] Steering Column Switch Base Carrier, Valeo or => [ Steering Column Switch Base Carrier, Kostal ] Steering Column Switch Base Carrier, Kostal.
