Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)

Insert Tool 24 (V.A.G 1332/11)

- Loosen the lock nut - 1 -, while counterholding at tie rod end.

- Remove the spring clip from the boot.

- Set toe by twisting the left and/or right tie rod.

An open end wrench on the hex fitting of the tie rod can be used for this purpose.

Be sure that boots are not twisted after turning tie rods!

Twisted boots wear out quickly.

- Tighten the lock nut - 1 - with (V.A.G 1332/11) while counterholding at the wrench surface of the tie rod end.

- Check toe value again.

Setting may change slightly after lock nut is tightened.

If the measured toe nevertheless lies within the tolerance, the adjustment is correct.

- Install spring clamp on bellows.
