Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Lambda Testing W/ Volt Meter

Fig. 76 CHECK LAMBDA SOND FUNCTION:

To test the Lambda sond, all potential problems influencing a Lambda sond reading (ignition, fuel injection, intake and exhaust system etc.) must be checked and corrected.

As an alternative checking method, the Lambda sond can be checked with a volt meter:
Run the engine until 5 minutes after it has reached operating temperature.
Disconnect Lambda sond.
With the engine running, connect a volt meter to the sond Fig, 76. The meter must give a reading (normally around 0.3 to 0.7 V) if the sond is working correctly.
If there is no reading, replace and re-test with new Lambda sond.
Reconnect Lambda sond.
