Motor 2 In Seatback, Change
Motor 2 in seatback, changeRemove:
Removal
- Remove battery negative lead.
- Remove seat from vehicle. Remove Seat From Vehicle
- Remove rake adjustment wheel and distance piece.
- Remove caps at both sides.
Models to 1994:
- Slacken off screw at rear edge of side panel.
- Carefully lift side panel. NOTE: Short wiring.
1995 models:
- Remove control panel. Control Panel For Power Seat, Change
Lower seatback
- Lower seatback as far as possible. Use crank for manual operation.
- Insert crank pin (Part No.340 6731) in small hole in cap at side of seat.
Disconnect connector
Models to 1991: Disconnect connectors:
- (1) for electrically-heated seat.
- (2) for seatback motor.
- (3) 3-pin connector. Press out black leads (4) from connector.
- Cut off tie-band.
Models from 1992, with memory: Disconnect connectors:
- For electrically-heated seat
- 14-pin gray connector B to control module.
- Press out leads in positions 1 and 2 from connector.
Models from 1992, without memory: Disconnect connectors:
- For electrically-heated seat.
- 2-pin connector for seatback motor.
- Press out both leads from connector.
Removal of seatback
- Remove the four seatback retaining screws.
- Lift seatback clear.
Removal of trim
- Cut off seatback trim retaining clamps.
- Carefully lift trim as far as possible.
Slacken off rake adjuster.
- If necessary, slacken off elastic retainers on inside.
- Slacken off plastic retainers to free control bars.
- Withdraw rake adjuster.
Removal of motor
- Remove M7 nut which fixes motor bracket to seat frame.
- Lift motor clear by turning and withdrawing so that upper bracket clears seat frame.
Removal of brackets
- Remove brackets from motors.
- Slacken off the four screws.
Removal of drive cables
- Remove drive cables.
- Remove any clip holding drive cable against upholstery.
Seat with memory:
- Remove potentiometer.
Earlier models:
- Withdraw motor connector.
Replace:
Replacement
- Replace upper drive cables and if necessarv potentiometer.
- Screw down bracket.
- Replace lower drive cables. Screw down bracket.
Pass in bracket
- Feed upper bracket hook into hole marked with arrow.
Earlier models:
- Reconnect connector
Tightening nut
- Tighten nut which holds lower bracket to seatback frame.
Finishing
- Attach rake adjuster into plastic holder. Retain the upper long cable with a cable clip or fix it firmly between rake adjuster and upholstery. This is to avoid noise caused by cable striking against upholstery and trim.
- Attach elastic retainer inside trim (if it has been slackened off).
- Pull down trim and clip in place. Use new clips.
Replacement of seatback
- Replace seatback on seat.
- Replace the four screws: Tighten front screws, M10, with tightening torque 50 Nm (37 ft.lb). Tighten the two lower screws, M8, with tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ft.lb).
Reconnect connector
- Reconnect connector.
Raise seatback.
- Raise seatback with crank.
Replace:
- Caps
- Distance pieces and rake adjustment wheel.
- Replace seat in vehicle. Remove Seat From Vehicle
Models to 1994:
- Pull down control panel and fix screw in rear edge.
- Replace battery negative lead.
1995 models:
- Replace control panel. Control Panel For Power Seat, Change
- Replace battery negative lead.
Check
Seat without memory:
- Check function.
Seat with memory:
- Calibrate seat.
- Check function.
