Volvo Cars of North America has determined that 1986 and 1987 model year 240 series vehicles which have a genuine Volvo cruise control system installed as an accessory will be subject to a safety recall.
Laboratory tests have shown that the microprocessor in the control unit of the cruise control system can be affected by a short duration of voltage drop. If this occurs while the cruise control is in the "on" position the effect may be an erratic cruise control function. The situation is eliminated (neutralized) by applying the brake pedal or turning the system off.
