New heated rear window and switch
A new, thinner heating element and thicker (5 mm) laminated rear window (previously 3 mm) were brought into production with the launch of the 1987 models. Defroster output was also increased from 150 W to 190 W and a new, heavier duty switch was fitted to accommodate the increased current.
Consequently, if a new rear window is installed in a pre-1987 model, it is necessary to replace the switch. Failure to do so will cause overheating.
